Double Cleansing and why you should be doing it!

Girlfriends I’ve been double cleansing my skin at night for the last year or more. For those of you that aren’t privy to the concept, it’s essentially removing your makeup first with an oil (or alternative) then proceeding to cleanse your face as normal with your cleanser of choice. This is especially wonderful for those that use a heavyish foundation daily.  I started out by using my trusty pure coconut oil after discovering how well it removed my eye makeup – if it can remove waterproof mascara it surely can remove heavy foundation. After sometime of using straight coconut oil, I ventured out and began trying different oil cleansers looking for a non-comegenic option.

Enter the Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil! This has become my go to oil cleanser for the last several months. Why do i love it? Not only does it feel great while massaging onto dry skin, it removes all of my makeup like a breeze! I follow the oil cleanser with my regular gel cleanser and my skin feels fresh as a baby’s butt.

My second fave option for the first step of double cleansing is the Boscia Charcoal Makeup Melter. This is a somewhat solid cleanser but again it feels amazing on the skin. This product is used best by applying to dry skin then adding a bit of water to create a froth. Again after rinsing with warm water I use my PCA skin facial wash.

Lastly, I have been playing around with the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm. This is also a somewhat solid cleanser and has a wonderful scent. It is a little heavier than the other two, so I tend to use this only every so often.

Even though cleansing twice sounds like a pain in the ass, I’d certainly give it a shot. This method has seriously helped clear up my blemishes and helped to hydrate my super dry skin.

  1. I COMPLETELY agree with this and have been trying to get all my friends to double cleanse too. They mostly use makeup removing wipes, and I keep telling them to switch over to double cleansing. I just wrote a post on dry skin and what to do, go check it out when you have time!

  2. I’ve recently begun double cleansing and I have the Clinique cleansing balm. It is so great! My face definitely feels extra clean and fresh after using both the balm and then facewash with my Clarisonic
